Two Out of Three

Well, my time at Stanford has come to an end. I am now a full-time resident of the Redwood Center for Theoretical Neuroscience at UC Berkeley. The original plan included a 3 year run at Stanford, but, for reasons good and bad, I can now focus on my core research at Redwood for the next year. I wonder how that year will go?

1 Week, 4 Talks

It began with a practice talk at the Mind, Brian & Computation on Wednesday
The first talk for points was at Starkey Hearing Research in Berkeley the following Friday.
This Tuesday I visited Google.
Finally, yesterday I spoke at the CCRMA seminar series at Stanford's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics.

In order, the talks went mediocre, good, OK (+ free food) and great. I met many people with cool ideas with whom (or for whom) I'd love to work. I also learned that I need to visit Paris... in MA.

Many thanks to Bill, Martin and Malcolm for the invitations.

P.S. Eizaburo - thanks for all the encouragement.

Into the Redwoods

For the last 18 months I've been traveling back and forth between Stanford and Berkeley, spending a day on the Farm, another with the Bears and the rest with Thumper. I learned too much about traffic patterns in the Bay Area and not enough about auditory scene analysis. So now, the Redwood Center will be my full-time home. I remain affiliated, funded and fond with, by and of Stanford, but for now its all theoretical neuroscience all the time. Yeah!
